Victor Osimhen, the highly sought-after Nigerian striker, has officially joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli.
The move, which was finalized in the early hours of the morning, was met with immense excitement from thousands of Galatasaray supporters who gathered to welcome Osimhen to Istanbul.
The loan agreement, set to last until June 2025, includes a £75 million release clause, and Galatasaray will cover Osimhen’s substantial £9-10 million salary.
However, the deal does not include a purchase option, leaving Napoli with the possibility of extending Osimhen’s contract until June 2027 if he is not sold by June 2025.
Osimhen is scheduled to undergo medical tests on Tuesday morning, after which he will be registered for Galatasaray’s Europa League squad.
This move marks a new chapter for the talented striker, who was previously excluded from the Napoli team following Romelu Lukaku’s arrival.
Galatasaray has a history of signing Nigerian players, with notable names like Henry Onyekuru and Oghenekaro Etebo having played for the Istanbul-based club.
The Turkish team announced late Monday night that they had “started negotiations” with Napoli for Osimhen, a move that typically signals a nearly complete deal.
