American producer and director of television and live events, Glenn Weiss, 57, stole the show at the Emmy Awards last night when he proposed to his girlfriend during his acceptance speech on stage.
The 57-year-old director of the Oscars who won the award for Directing for a Variety Special popped the question to his girlfriend, Jan Svendsen on live television after winning an Emmy.
In his emotional speech, :’Jan, you are the sunshine in my life, and mom was right, don’t ever let go of your sunshine,’ the director said.
‘You wonder why I don’t like to call you my girlfriend? Because I want to call you my wife.’
When she arrived at the stage, Weiss got down on one knee and gave her the engagement ring that belonged to his mother, who recently passed away. “I want to put this ring that my mom wore on your finger in front of all these people and in front of my mom and your parents watching from above. Will you marry me?” he asked. She said yes.
