A team from the World Health Organization (WHO) have successfully delivered crucial aid to Al-Shifa Hospital in northern Gaza, as announced by WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a recent update
The delivered aid included food, 24,050 liters of fuel, and medical supplies intended for 42,000 patients.
The medical supplies encompassed anesthetic drugs, surgical materials, and essential medicines, aiming to support the hospital’s functions.
Despite the aid delivery, Ghebreyesus highlighted the minimal functionality of Al-Shifa Hospital, emphasizing the urgent requirement for specialized health workers to enhance its operations.
In addition to Al-Shifa Hospital, the WHO team also reached Al-Helou Hospital, which is currently facing challenges due to limited services and pressing needs. Ghebreyesus stressed the critical necessity for medical staff, fuel, surgical equipment, and food at Al-Helou Hospital.
The WHO’s efforts are geared towards providing essential support to healthcare facilities in Gaza, addressing immediate needs to ensure the well-being of the local population.
