Why I'm not married at 38 — Abimbola Craig

In a revealing interview with Chude Jideonwo, Craig shared her thoughts on the institution of marriage, stating, “All marriage is a scam.”

She drew from her childhood experiences, recalling her mother’s words: “When they call you ‘Mrs,’ it stands for ‘Master’s in Residential Servicing’.” This notion highlights the unequal distribution of responsibilities in traditional marital roles.

Abimbola Craig clarified that her decision to remain single at 38 isn’t a rejection of marriage, but rather a desire for a partner with self-awareness and purpose.

“All marriage is a scam. When I was small, my mum always told me marriage is an institution. She said when they call you ‘Mrs,’ it stands for ‘Master’s in Residential Servicing’.”

“I am not married, not because I do not want to be married, but if you are a man who does not know who he is, you cannot be with me.”

Known for her standout role as Tiwalade in ‘Skinny Girl in Transit’ and producing hits like ‘Sugar Rush’, Craig has also faced personal challenges, including a near-death experience following brain surgery in 2014.

Her journey has instilled resilience and a deeper understanding of life’s values.
