Woman Whose Husband Died After Medical Treatment Sues Govt Over Loss Of Sex.

The widow of a husband who died after a botched medical treatment is suing the Australian government for Β£650,000 over a loss of sex. Dad-of-four Jamie Finnegan was left brain-damaged and passed away in 2018 after a procedure at Brisbane Hospital went wrong six years ago.

His widow, Cara, is suing Queensland Health for AU$1.2million because she has suffered a loss of sex with her childhood sweetheart.

But Jamie’s mum Daphne thinks that Cara could get even more compensation.

β€œIf we’re talking about conjugal rights he’d be worth about $3 million, he’s an Italian stallion, mate,” Daphne told A Current Affair. β€œShe’s got to raise those four children by herself, she didn’t get any money to raise those children,” she said.

β€œDo you think Jamie wants his children living in poverty?”

The family has already received Β£5.5million (AU$10 million) following Jamie’s death. But now his widow Cara and a number of other family members are launching new claims in court.

β€œI want everybody to claim, because Queensland Health never apologised and never cared, and they continued to hurt Jamie, continued to hurt him or make him suffer,” Daphne told A Current Affair.

Daphne said of the $10 million in damages, about $8 million is left and is held in trust for his children when they turn 25.

The mum said that Cara was offered Β£16,000 ($30,000) and claimed Queensland Health had said the children had received enough money.
