A Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday, remanded a 71-year-old man, Dumashi Sabo, who pleaded guilty to def!ling a 12 year-old girl, in prison custody.
The Chief Magistrate, Patrick Adekomaiya gave the order following a guilty plea entered by Sabo. He ordered he be remanded at a correctional centre pending his sentencing.
Adekomaiya adjourned the case until July 15 to listen to the facts of the case and for sentencing.
The prosecution counsel, Ayodele Adeosun had told the court that the defendant committed the offence on July 1, at about 2.00.p.m at Zongo, Seme Border, Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 261 and 263 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
