Odion Ighalo wants English Premier League return

Odion Ighalo has revealed he has set his sights on returning to the Premier League after a two-year spell in China. The former Watford striker, 29, left Vicarage Road to joinΒ Changchun Yatai in January 2017.

Yet, after plunderingΒ 36 goals in 55 games, Ighalo is eyeing up a new challenge and wants that to be in England.

The Nigeria international was a popular figure during his two-and-a-half seasons in Herfordshire.

He scored 20 goals in his first season to help the club earn promotion to the Premier League, forming a prolific partnership withΒ Troy Deeney.

However, after an impressive debut season in the top flight, the goals dried up and Ighalo did not score in his final 15 games for the club.

This led to aΒ Β£20million January transfer window move to China, although Ighalo insisted his main preference was to stay in England. He had previously turnedΒ down an offer from Hebai China Fortune.

No Premier League clubs could matchΒ Changchun Yatai’s bid at the time, but now the frontman is reportedly flying back to the UK for talks over his future.
