Efecan Kültür, a 24-year-old Turkish TikTok personality known for his extreme-eating “mukbang” videos, has passed away due to complications from obesity.
Kültür had been hospitalized for three months before his death on March 7, 2025. He gained popularity on social media by consuming large quantities of food while engaging with his audience.
However, his health deteriorated significantly, leading to severe breathing difficulties and mobility issues that eventually left him bedridden.
His passing has sparked concerns over the health risks associated with the “mukbang” trend, where influencers eat excessive amounts of food for entertainment.
In response, Turkish authorities are now considering new regulations to restrict social media usage among minors.
