“Some of you are seeing a clip today, I lived that moment years ago” — Nurse Sugar reacts to video shared by ex-husband’s camp hitting him and wetting his bed
U.S.-based Nigerian-American nurse and influencer Bukola Akinpelu, popularly known as Nurse Sugar, has reacted to a video shared by her ex-husband’s camp showing a past incident between them.
In an emotional video, Nurse Sugar said the past few days had been difficult as she prepares to release a book detailing her experiences.
“Some of you are seeing a clip today, I lived that moment years ago,” she said, explaining that the video represented only a small part of the story she had written about.
She said one of her biggest fears about writing the book was becoming a subject of public discussion before people had heard the full story.
According to her, she had decided to tell the truth in the book, even if some parts could be interpreted as an attempt to defend herself.
Nurse Sugar then read an account from the book describing an incident involving her ex-husband and a mattress in an apartment she said she was paying for.
She recounted confronting him and telling him to leave the room after an argument, before describing how she filled a bucket with water and poured it on the other side of the mattress while he was lying on one side.
“This is my truth,” she said, adding that she deliberately made herself vulnerable by sharing her experiences because she wanted readers to understand her beyond the clips being circulated online.
Nurse Sugar thanked those who had reached out to support her and said she was still processing everything, adding that she would eventually return to the version of herself her followers knew.
