EKITI POLICE CONFIRM SOWORE’S DISCHARGE, INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the discharge of AAC presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, and other victims of Friday’s restaurant incident in the Dalimore area of Ado-Ekiti.
The Police said operatives promptly responded to the incident, rescued those affected and ensured they received medical attention at the Police Cottage Hospital. Sowore was discharged at about 4:30 p.m. and returned to Ikogosi Warm Springs Resort.
The Command disclosed that Sowore declined repeated requests to make a formal statement, while the Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, has ordered a comprehensive investigation to identify those involved and bring perpetrators to justice.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, the Command also noted that Sowore did not formally notify the Police of his arrival in Ekiti State, which could have enabled adequate security arrangements.
The Police assured residents and visitors of their commitment to public safety and urged the public to disregard unverified reports.
