Nollywood actress and singer, Mercy Isoyip akaΒ Descushiel, has tendered an unreserved apology to the Nigeria Police and citizens of the country for wrongful recitation of the National Anthem during the Conference for Senior Police Officers in Imo state.
Descushiel, who was adorned in the police uniform during the conference, went viral on Monday, October 31, after she missed the lyrics while reciting the national anthem at the event.
This prompted criticism from some Nigerians on social media, assuming her to be a policewoman based on her attire.
Nevertheless, in a video posted on her Instagram account on Tuesday, Descushiel expressed regret for her errors, stating, βI sincerely apologise for the error I made during the recital of the National Anthem, I know such errors are inexcusable,β Descushiel said.
βMy good people of our country, please accept my apology, as well as my assurance that I will be more careful in the future to prevent such incidents from recurring.β
βGod bless the Nigeria Police Force. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.β
