ADC suspends South-South Vice Chairman over Anti party acts

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman (South-South), Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, citing alleged breaches of the party’s constitution and actions deemed detrimental to its unity and electoral prospects

The decision followed a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Cross River State chapter on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

In a statement obtained by Vanguard in Abuja, ADC Cross River State Publicity Secretary Hon. James Otudor said the suspension stemmed from multiple petitions and reports accusing Dr. Usani of anti-party conduct, insubordination, and behavior that could harm the party’s cohesion and public image.

“The suspension will remain in effect pending the conclusion of a formal investigation by the party’s disciplinary organs, in line with the ADC constitution,” Otudor added.

The SWC also criticized the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, claiming she was imposed on the state without consultation. The committee alleged that since assuming office, Ms. Wayas had neither engaged with the state leadership nor demonstrated loyalty to the unity and growth of the party in Cross River, urging the national leadership to replace her with a “competent, credible, and media-savvy” representative from the state.

Additionally, the committee raised concerns about some members of the Coalition Movement, who publicly aligned with ADC but had not formalized their membership months later. The party warned that dual membership or pursuing “multiple partisan interests” would not be tolerated. Coalition leaders and prospective members were given seven days, ending October 25, 2025, to regularize their registration at the ward level or risk exclusion from leadership and decision-making roles.

Reaffirming loyalty to the ADC’s national leadership, the Cross River chapter assured members of its commitment to credible leadership and building a people-oriented political platform in the state and across the South-South region.

“We urge all members to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast as the party’s internal mechanisms for discipline, justice, and accountability take their full course,” the statement concluded.
