President Bola Tinubu has announced the appointment of Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), replacing Yusuf Magaji Bichi, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018
This was disclosed in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity, on Monday.
Additionally, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been appointed as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), succeeding Ahmed Abubakar, who resigned recently.
Ambassador Mohammed brings a wealth of experience to the role, having served in various capacities since joining the NIA in 1995, including postings in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and as head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.
The new DSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi, has risen through the ranks, serving as State Director in several states, including Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to work collaboratively to reposition the agencies for improved results, leveraging their experience to address the country’s security challenges in tandem with sister agencies and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President has also expressed gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
