Hon. Ekene Abubakar Adams, a member of the House of Representatives representing Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency of Kaduna State, has died.
His wife confirmed his passing on Tuesday morning.
Adams, a member of the Labour Party, had been battling health issues since taking office. He served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Sports and was known for being outspoken.
The late lawmaker had a background in sports, having been a former player for Remo Stars and later serving as the General Manager of Kada City Football Club in Kaduna.
Adams’ political career was marked by his victory over long-time incumbent Yakubu Barde, who had held the seat for 16 years. His death comes shortly after the passing of another House member, Olajide Akinremi Jagaban from Oyo State.
