Social media critic Daniel Regha has voiced his disapproval of Rodri’s Ballon d’Or win.
On October 29, the Spanish midfielder received the award after leading Manchester City to a fourth consecutive Premier League title and helping Spain win Euro 2024.
However, many believed Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior, who clinched both La Liga and the Champions League, was the top contender.
Ahead of the Paris event, Real Madrid announced they would not attend, citing a lack of respect for Vinicius.
Daniel shared his criticism on X, noting that Rodri wasn’t nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season and wasn’t Spain’s top midfielder, arguing he didn’t deserve the award.
“Rodri wasn’t nominated for the Premier League Player of the Season (2023/24), he was n@t the best player in Man City last season, & also was n@t the best midfielder in Spain; But he’s the winner of the Ballon d’Or? He, Rodri, d! dn’t merit this.”
He further commented, “The fact that Vini (2nd) ranked above Bellingham is insane; Jude Bellingham outclassed all nominees this year based on merit.”
Daniel compared the Ballon d’Or to the Grammys, suggesting both have a similar atmosphere, writing, “Ballon d’Or 🤝 Gr@mmys. Same vibes.”
