Yvonne Jegede has reacted to the criticisms she received for going bald for a new movie.
Recall the actress shared a video of her cutting her hair as she revealed that she made the bold decision to showcase her dedication to her craft and the depth she brings to her character.
Reacting to the criticisms, she wrote;
”Fifteen years ago, I took the bold step of going completely bald. I’ve always been known for daring choices with my hair, and maybe that’s because I’m blessed with great hair. #Aja #AjaTheMovie demanded a transformation – not just for the money 💰, but because of @lopeorire (the brilliant Writer/Producer) whose talent is unmatched. I’m not one for “champagne” roles that are all about looks; the riskier, the more I’m drawn in. I was on the phone with @Officialsamolatunji1 (my manager) every day, telling him I HAD to be in this film because the story captivated me.
When this movie drops on streaming platforms, expect to see me front and center! I’m immensely proud of this project – NOTHING like what’s out there. This film will spark debates, and that’s exactly why I poured everything into this role.
