Detained Nigerian Businessman Denies ‘Fake Dubai Prince’ Frəud Allegation

Henry Nzube Ikeji, in EFCC custody, has denied claims he impersonated Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to defraud a Romanian woman of $2.5 million.

The allegation was made in a documentary by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, which claimed he ran a romance scam and directed funds through a London-based contact.

Another woman reportedly lost €13,400.

Ikeji says it’s false. He insists only ₦155,186,500 was traced to him and claims the money is from legitimate business. He also presented documents to back his transactions.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has not filed any formal charges yet.
