Dora Akunyili’s Daughter elected board member of Harvard Kennedy School

 

Ijeoma Akunyili, a daughter of late ex-NAFDAC boss, Dora Akunyili, has been elected to the Harvard Kennedy School’s (HKS) alumni board, alongside eight other individuals from various countries.

Ijeoma Akunyili, who was appointed Chief Medical Officer of the Jersey City Medical Center in January 2023, will serve a four-year term starting July 1.

As an alumni board member, Ijeoma will be part of several working committees focused on engagement, connections, celebration, recognition, governance, and communications.

Her responsibilities will include championing the HKS mission, fostering alumni connections, leading the alumni association, and advising the dean on alumni perspectives.

The school congratulated the new board members and encouraged them to strengthen alumni engagement and contribute to the HKS community.

Ijeoma Akunyili’s commitments include attending biannual board meetings in Cambridge, dedicating time to board work, participating in assigned committees, and supporting initiatives aligned with the school’s priorities.

This appointment recognizes Ijeoma’s achievements and potential, following in her mother’s footsteps as a trailblazer in her field.
