Ibrahim Chatta, the renowned Nigerian actor and film director, recently addressed the long-standing belief that he is underrated in the movie industry.

During an appearance on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, Chatta confidently stated that he is one of the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in Nigeria.
“A lot of times people say Ibrahim Chatta is underrated. No, I’m not. I’m one of the highest-paid Yoruba-speaking actors in Nigeria,” he declared.
Chatta shared his journey from humble beginnings in the entertainment industry, explaining that he initially worked behind the scenes, creating promotional jingles and movie soundtracks for over 400 films and companies.
He emphasized that his perseverance and determination were key to his success, recalling how he took on responsibility early in his career to strengthen himself.
“At one point, I told my mum that I was comfortable and that she shouldn’t worry about sending me foodstuffs. But I wasn’t comfortable. So, I would work as a bus conductor for a week or two and then send someone to Kwara with foodstuffs for my parents to reassure them of my well-being,” he said.
He went on to describe how his luck changed when he started writing and composing movie soundtracks, eventually working on over 400 films and promotional jingles for numerous companies. During that time, he wasn’t known as an actor but had studios in Ikeja and other locations, spending his days writing, singing, and performing as a “studio rat.”
