About 10 suspected cultists arrested in Delta State are currently cooling of their heels in Police custody.
The arrested group of cultists has been a terror on residents of Jesse community in Sapele, Delta state.
According to reports, the arrest of the suspects occurred after two young men were nabbed with two local cut-to-size guns during a stop and search operation by policemen in the area.
About 34 pieces of bullets and battle axe were also found on the two suspects.
During interrogation, the two suspects revealed that they were transporting the weapons to their main boss.
“We are on our way to the leader’s house when they Police intercepted us and found the weapons on us. We are cultists and not armed robbers” One of the said upon interrogation
When police operatives stormed the house where the suspects were staying, another gun and other items were also recovered. .
The two suspects also confessed to police all their friends who have used the guns before. About 10 of them were arrested.
“The guns you see do not belong to a particular person. If anyone needs to use, he just informs the leadership of the group and once the weapon is approved, they can take it for their activities” a suspect said
They are currently cooling their heels in police custody and will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
