A 21-year-old woman’s life was put in danger after she drank coffee from a vending machine at Majorca airport filled with insects.
Working for an airline, she bought the drink to quench her thirst, but soon realized something was wrong as she tasted a strange flavor and saw bugs crawling inside the cup.
She quickly went into anaphylactic shock, her face swelling, and her throat closing, making it hard to breathe. Rushed to the hospital, she spent 36 hours in intensive care before being discharged. The incident occurred on Monday and caused severe swelling.
Airport health services administered adrenaline and other medications before transferring her to a clinic in Palma. Her family has filed a complaint with the National Police, alleging a crime against public health and reckless endangerment due to the poorly maintained vending machine, which has since been shut down.
