I Am A Billionaire In Naira And I’ll Soon Become A Billionaire In US Dollars — Singer Mr Eazi Brags
Singer Mr. Eazi has suggested that becoming Afrobeats’ first US dollar billionaire could be within reach, while expressing gratitude for the freedom to make music on his own terms.
During an interview, the entertainer was asked whether he agreed that he was on his way to becoming the first Afrobeats billionaire.
“Depends on what currency you’re talking about,” he replied.
When the interviewer clarified the question in naira and indicated that he had already attained billionaire status in the currency, the singer affirmed, “Billionaire.”
When the interviewer clarified that he meant US dollars, Mr. Eazi said the milestone could be closer than people might think, although it was not his primary goal. “US dollars, you know, soon come,” he stated.
He added that he was not necessarily chasing billionaire status, explaining that he was more appreciative of life and the freedom to pursue his musical ambitions.
“I’m not really looking for, that’s not the target,” he said, before adding that the financial milestone could happen “anytime now.”
The singer also highlighted the importance of creative independence, saying, “Freedom very big to me. Freedom musically, freedom to be able to put out music freely.”
When the conversation turned to his business interests, the interviewer referenced his stake in a UK ticketing company, to which Mr. Eazi agreed.
Asked whether he could be regarded as Africa’s Jay-Z, the singer embraced the comparison, saying, “You have Africa’s Jay-Z, you know, you could do that.”
He then drew a playful comparison between their love lives, adding, “Jay-Z is Jay-Z. I’m Mr. Eazi. Mr. Eazi has Beyonce, I have Temi.”
