‘I Never Protested Against Jonathan’s Government’ — Pastor Adeboye Clarifies
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has addressed reports that he carried a placard during a protest against former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.
Adeboye, speaking during the church’s monthly Holy Ghost Service, denied participating in any protest against Jonathan, explaining that the march was organised to demand an end to corruption in Nigeria.
He clarified that the exercise was a prayer walk and march against corruption, not an attempt to discredit Jonathan or oppose his government.
The cleric maintained that he was concerned about the nation’s affairs but insisted that his responsibility was to pray for those in authority rather than protest against any government.
“I did not carry any placard against Jonathan. What we did was a march against corruption.
“I have never protested against any government. My own is to pray for those in authority,” Adeboye clarified.
