Australian Grandmother, 56, Gives Birth to Twin Girls After Marrying Younger Nigerian Husband

Angela Peters, a 56-year-old mother of five and grandmother of 12 from Australia, has welcomed twin daughters, Khorus and Knowyn, with her 39-year-old Nigerian husband, Bright.

The couple met online in 2020 and married in Lagos just nine days after meeting in person in 2021. Initially sceptical, Angela’s children later warmed to Bright.

Already in perimenopause, Angela thought motherhood was behind her. But after discovering IVF clinics in Nigeria that would treat older women, she used donor eggs and Bright’s sperm to carry the pregnancy herself.

In December 2023, she learned she was expecting twins — just as Bright had predicted. The girls were born healthy in August 2024.

Angela brushed off criticism about her age: “Men have children in their 60s and no one bats an eyelid. The girls will always have a large, loving family.”
