
Senate President Bukola Saraki might just be on his way out of the upper legislative chamber, having lost three of the four local government areas in Kwara central senatorial district.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the results of the election in Ilorin south, Ilorin west and Asa local government areas and Ibrahim Oloriegbe, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), emerged victorious.
In Ilorin south, Oloriegbe had 26,331 while Saraki secured 13,013 votes. In Ilorin east, Oloriegbe polled 30,014 votes while Saraki got 14,654 In Asa, Oloriegbe polled 15,932 while Saraki got 11,252 votes.
In all, Ibrahim Oloriegbe secured 72,277 while Saraki trailed with 38,919 votes, leaving a margin of 33,358.
It’s the result of Ilorin west, where Saraki is from that is remaining. The senate president would need to upturn over 33,000 votes of his rival to retain his seat.
